APmk=Case: The agent and patient are marked through the use of case marking alignment.

(1)miju-a-msur.
wedrinkprs1plbeer
’We drink beer.’ (V. E.)

(2)mikovkor-önasta-ös.
Mikovcallprs.3sgNastyaacc
’Mikov calls Nastya.’ (V. E.)

(3)mikovkor-ötenö.
Mikovcallprs.3sgyou.acc
’Mikov calls you.’ (V. E.)

In Komi-Permyak, agentive pronouns (1) and nouns (2)–(3) are unmarked, similarly to inanimate patients (1). In such cases agents and patients can be determined based on word order and the meaning of the constituents. Animate patients are always marked, irrespective of whether they are nominal (2) or pronominal (3) (cf. Bartens 2000: 329, 332).
