In Komi-Permyak object nouns can have an unmarked form identical with nominative case (1), or they can bear the accusative marker -ös (2). The choice between the two depends on the definiteness of the noun or whether it is animate or inanimate. Personal pronouns on the other hand always appear in their accusative forms (3) when functioning as an object. (cf. Bartens 2000: 90–93, Ponomareva 2010).
