In Komi-Permyak, necessity is expressed using the modal auxiliaries kolö ’has to’ (1) or kovśö ’must’ (2) combining with the infinitival form of the verb. The auxiliary usually precedes the infinitive (1)–(2), but occasionally it follows it (3) (L. P.). More research is needed to work out the details.
