NoAdjCase: Nouns are marked for case, but adnominal adjectives are not.

(2)ćoćkomʒ́oriʒ́-ös

’white flower (acc)’ (L. P.)

(3)ʒ́oriʒ́-sö,ćoćkom-ö

’flower (acc), a white one (acc)’ (L. P.)

In Komi-Permyak adnominal adjectives do not agree with the noun in case (1)–(2) (cf. Bartens 2000: 342). Case agreement is possible only in case the adjective has an appositive function (3). Case syncretism is ruled out even in this case, since the adjectival case ending, though morphologically different from the nominal case suffix, cannot express a case different from that of the noun (L. P.).
