In Meadow Mari there are two ways to form a polar question: using the question particle mo meaning ’what’ (1)─(4), or simply with the help of intonation (5). The question particle mo is always directly after the focus of the question irrespective of whether the predicate of the sentence is verbal (1)─(3) or non-verbal (4).
