(Meadow Mari)
SyntPP
SyntPP: PPs have a synthetic stem (i.e., the morphological expression of number and person occurs simultaneously), and the expression of different numbers within the same person does not display internal flexion.
| singular | plural | |
|---|---|---|
| 1st person | məj | me |
| 2nd person | təj | te |
| 3rd person | tudo | nuno |
From a synchronic perspective Mari personal pronouns count as synthetic. (In certain dialects third person plural forms are derived by adding the general plural marker -vlak to the third person singular form. In other dialects -vlak is added to the third person plural form (nuno).) (Alhoniemi 1985: 83)
